Juan Federico Fischer is the Managing Partner of one of Uruguay’s leading law and tax firms, Andersen.

Juan Federico Fisher’s extensive real estate experience spans advising developers from Europe, the U.S., and Argentina in Montevideo’s historic district (Ciudad Vieja); as well as developers of residential communities on Uruguay’s eastern coastline, Colonia, and Carmelo. Over the past decade, Juan and his team of professionals at Fischer & Schickendantz have assisted hundreds of foreign buyers of real estate. The firm is Uruguay’s leading practice in real estate law, with eight bilingual conveyance attorneys and the largest residence and relocation practice in the country.

In his 25 years as a corporate attorney, Juan has gained experience in a vast array of cross-border deals, including Uruguay’s first airport privatization (Punta del Este airport, 1994); negotiating the sale of equity in Uruguay’s main port to Belgium’s Katoen Natie; structuring the set-up of foreign-owned agricultural ventures, such as the $60 million equity Agro group; negotiation of a franchise agreement on behalf of J.H. Partners (a U.S. private equity firm) for Uruguay’s largest retail franchise, Gap stores; and advising, since 2009, Minera Aratiri (Zamin Ferrous), including the negotiation and purchase of land. Minera Aratiri is the largest foreign direct investment project in Uruguay’s history ($3 billion).
